| Turffalo's parent company is Frontier Hybrids. An agricultural company established in 1985 by Dan and Donna Ryan, Frontier produces top quality native grass seeds, hybrid corn and sorghum. We are well known in the industry for having the best products and customer service along with very competitive pricing. Those same standards were applied when forming Turffalo, Ltd. Our facility is located in Abernathy, Texas just 18 miles north of Lubbock at the intersection of I-27 and exit 24. If you're ever in the area, stop in and see us.
Our Founder

Dan Ryan is the visionary who developed Turffalo. Back in the late 1980's, Dan recognized the importance of water conservation and identified the potential to positively impact this concern by developing a turfgrass that was both beautiful and water wise. He selected several germplasms of native grasses that had the potential to be developed into what he was looking for and took them to the agricultural scientists at Texas Tech University. With their assistance, several cultivars were developed. Fifteen years later, the final product is Tech Turf.
Update: We are saddened to report that Dan Ryan passed away on September 23, 2006. Before he left, he was able to see Turffalo on its way to growing into a world-class turfgrass company. That dream is still alive and well today. |
The Next Generation

Trent Ryan worked with his father during the inception of Frontier Hybrids and has recently returned to take the helm as company President to continue growing the vision begun by his father so many years ago. "Its easy to be passionate about this company and its products – that not only beautify the environment, but conserve it as well. We all have a responsibility to be good stewards of the land we inhabit and improve it for the next generation." |
